Want a REAL top grain or full grain sofa that lasts a lifetime? Don't buy this sofa. I searched the Acme Corp catalog for top grain sofas; this sofa didn't show up. When I searched for so-called "genuine" leather, it did. Per research on the net, so-called "genuine" leather includes low quality material that can have a low percentage of leather in it, including leather scraps held together by non-leather components. Unlike real leather, this sofa material is thin, has a chemical odor, doesn't feel like leather, and has a regular, artificial looking grain, possibly stamped on or into the "fabric." Two people at Acme Corp verbally claimed (nice term for it) that the upholstry is top grain. Acme has not answered questions I submitted on their website about non-leather components nor why -if it's top grain- it isn't listed with other top grain sofas in their catalog. I could go on about how they camouflage the issue of the leather content in their care and maintenance booklet that comes with the sofa, but enough said. In addition, the sofa is not dark chocolate as shown in the photo, but is a dusty milk chocolate color. If you want durable quality leather, I wouldn't believe any company that isn't willing, in print, to fully answer your questions and disclose the contents of their "leather" product and the process used to produce it. Verbal explanations mean nothing.
